Clarity
The clarity of a diamond is how pure the diamond is, being how free of trace minerals, scratches, air bubbles and other impurities that can affect how much light is reflected and released from the stone. The less impurities the more valuable the stone. Clarity is graded as follows:
- FL Flawless
- no imperfections on the surface or inside the diamond
- IF Internally Flawless
- no imperfections inside the diamond
- VVS1-VVS2
- Very Very Slightly Included (2 grades)
- VS1-VS2
- Very Slightly Included (2 grades)
- SI1-SI2
- Slightly Included (2 grades)
- P1-P3 Included
The P1 grade is where inclusions become visible to the naked eye and Aura recommends staying above this grade for the purposes of rings. The VS1 to SI2 grades are the most common grades recommended for quality and value.
